Join us
We are The Green Runners and we are so excited you are considering joining us on our quest to take the (carbon) footprint out of running. We’re a community-led team, meaning we are primarily volunteers who joined as members and now work our socks off to make a difference.
Why become a member?
We are living in a climate emergency – we can’t run away from that – and while we all absolutely love running, it can be rubbish for our environment.
The 4 key pillars to becoming a Green Runner

Move
Over 90% of mass participation events’ carbon footprint comes from a runner’s travel, with air travel having the biggest impact.

Kit-up
As runners we are constantly being bombarded with new kit by brands and runners on social media. In reality, we probably already have more than enough kit to train and race effectively.

Fuel
Our diet as runners and in wider society has a considerable impact on the environment, and single-use plastics are everywhere in running nutrition.

Speak out
The final pillar of being a Green Runner is to help spread the word. Our collective voice has far more power than as individuals.
Volunteer with us
Want to get stuck in? We’ve plenty of volunteering opportunities to suit however much time you want to give.
Get in touch and we can talk more about what we can do together.

We’re big on calling out sportswashing, greenwashing, and any other kind of washing!
We’ve stood up to some giants in the sports world, and we want everyone to feel empowered to do their own actionism.
