As our international membership grows ever bigger, we love to hear from our members about what impacts them from an environmental perspective.
New member Kristof Klein, living in Lucerne, Switzerland, has shared his pledges with us and says he is keen to see the Swiss Green Runner community grow.
Kristof heard about The Green Runners thanks to a documentary on the 2024 Barkley Marathons featuring Jasmin Paris, maybe you saw that one too?!
He said: “Living in Switzerland for about 13 years now, I would still like further generations to enjoy this unique nature.
“I live close to a forest, and I must say, it would be nice organising a plogging event in the area to keep the nature a bit more beautiful.
“I live in Rothenburg, Lucerne, and would also in the next two or three years would like to organise a trail running event close to the surrounding forests.”
Kristof is already doing his bit as much as he can for the environment. He regularly buy shoes that have already been used (he recommends ricardo.ch, like eBay where you can get used items at a lower price).

If he has to buy kit, he says he trusts the company called “Revario”, who he says seem to have a more or less sustainable product chain.
“And concerning travel: I do not have a car, whenever I run.. it means probably going there by train.”
In October Kristof will be taking part in the Corsica Coast Trail https://corsicacoast.com/ He will be travelling by bike / train / ferry (planning now, depending on the weather conditions then).
