Green Runner Damian Hall was one of more than 1,200 people who gathered at Westminster Central Hall for the first ever official-style National Emergency Briefing on Climate and Nature.
Experts came together to present a powerful account of the interconnected threats facing the UK, alongside the actions that science suggests are necessary. You can watch the films on the nine talks here
Off the back of the National Emergency Briefing, the aim now is to ensure everyone can access the same trusted, unfiltered evidence.
Damo has written to his MP Sarah Gibson, who responded with concern about the accelerating climate crisis and the need for the UK to show genuine leadership on the international stage.
Parliament’s Energy Security and Net Zero Committee has opened a new inquiry into international climate policy, looking at how the UK can best demonstrate leadership on climate policy and climate finance ahead of COP30 in Brazil. The inquiry will examine, among other issues:
- Whether the UK’s current international climate commitments are sufficient to keep 1.5°C within reach.
- How the UK’s climate finance – including the pledge to provide £11.6 billion in international climate finance between 2021 and 2026 – can be delivered fairly and effectively.
- How the UK can rebuild trust and credibility as a climate leader after recent global setbacks and geopolitical tensions.
The Committee is inviting written evidence from organisations and members of the public.
Sarah Gibson calls for individuals and community groups to submit evidence, and you can find full details of the inquiry, including the questions the Committee is asking and how to respond, here.
Submissions should be no more than 3,000 words and should not include material that is already published. The deadline for submitting written evidence is 23:59 on Wednesday 7 January 2026.
