Kev’s recap: “Our Nottingham members were treated to a beautiful spring morning for our Local Meet Up today. ☀️
The venue this month was Victoria Embankment parkrun located alongside the River Trent and following a two lap route between Trent Bridge and Wilford Suspension Bridge.
Living our How We Move pillar Caren and Jon cycled and Kev travelled on the bus. True to form Matt arrived seconds before the start having run from home. 🚴♂️🚌🏃♂️
A post parkrun litter pick in the nearby war memorial gardens before a coffee and catch up in the café rounded off a fantastic morning. 🗑
Fun facts: The current Trent Bridge was designed by Marriott Ogle Tarbotton, construction started in 1868 and was completed in 1871.
The suspension bridge was built in 1906 and was originally designed to carry a water supply to Wilford Hill reservoir.
Queen Victoria’s statue arrived in the memorial gardens at Victoria Embankment in 1953 after standing in the city centre’s Old Market Square since it’s unveiling in 1905.”
