Theme of this LMU is ‘bring a friend and some gardening gloves’; we’ll bring the bags to collect the litter!
When Saturday, 12 September
Where Southwark parkrun
Report by Ben:
“On Saturday six green runners braved the muggy September weather to chat, run and litter pick around Southwark parkrun.
We met briefly before the run, and got a name check in the first timers briefing to encourage people to think of green running. Pleasingly nobody used anything other than foot or public transport to come despite some decent distances being travelled!
We ran in three pairs of varying pace. Conversations ranged from the experience of parenting a mid-teen alongside a three month old, the difficult of accepting a Big Half event t-shirt (decent quality against more stash), the life of influencers and race plans given the drive of events to be booked up almost a year in advance and the lack of spontaneousness that comes out of it. The gathering was named as being a cool event worth checking out, nice people and everybody being on the same page.
After running we got our biggest haul of litter so far filling a couple of bags before bidding farewell. Next meeting the second weekend in October; Neel to lead, potentially Greenwich Village peninsula or Catford.”

Meet 08:40 outside the Southwark Park Pavilion Café; then run/walk/skip round the 5km. We will litter pick for some time after.
