Resources to help you lower your carbon footprint
Travel is one the biggest considerations as a runner – how to get to races, and where in the world they are. Although research is scarce, one study suggests that an average marathon runner emits around 4.3 tons of CO2 equivalent (CO2e), with a flight on top (in this case France to New York) adding 3.5 tons of CO2e.
Where possible we encourage public transport – although of course, foot and bike are even better! But we understand that practicalities often outweigh the intentions, so cycling abroad isn’t always an option…
Think about car sharing, best public transport links, and whether or not you REALLY want to do that international race.

There’s no one-size fits all answer to the travel problem, but here are some resources to help you out.
